The role of an Airline cabin crew isn’t a bed of roses and not so easy. Flying to an altitude of 39,000 feet high looks quite an easy task, but only a cabin crew is aware that it’s the most difficult job.
The Cabin Crew mostly stay away from their families just to take care of the passengers on board the flight.
The job is not limited to merely serve snacks and food to the passengers, but they are equally responsible for the safety of their lives too.
The role can be physically and emotionally demanding and there is a high degree of responsibility involved. Cabin crew are expected to deal with all passengers diplomatically – even when feeling the effects of travelling through time zones and spending extended periods of time on their feet.
To get an in-depth responsibility of an Air-Hostess, Hello Womeniya. Com Correspondent Janvi Panjwani roped in
Indigo Airlines Cabin Crew Shruti Mishra for an exclusive interview on the current pandemic situation that has impacted the Airlines.
Excerpts of the interview:-
Janvi:- Hello Shruti ! Welcome to Hello Womeniya. Com. Tell me how did the Airlines job happened to you?
Shruti:- Hello Janvi, Thank you for finding me worthy for an interview.
Well , responding to your question let me tell you that everyone aspire a dream and a passion for a career in Airlines, but in my case it was my aspiration to fly high in the sky.
Since I in my college days I started knowing about the real future and career in Airlines, it was my aspiration to become a Cabin Attendant. I always wanted to do something different in my life hence thought of going in for a career in Aviation aviation as I was passionate about travelling and exploring new places , culture , lifestyle etc . I started working on my personality , confidence and did each and every single thing which makes me perfect for this field. And yes! I cracked it in just one attempt that was a huge acheivement for me .
Janvi:- Wow! That sounds pretty good Shruti ! Please elaborate what challenges did you have to face in this career?
Shruti:- Well, Jhanvi, talking about challenges , when we think and talk about cabin crew we dont actually have an iota of idea about what it is .
Even I wasn’t aware about the things which actually defines the role of a cabin crew. We need to study each and every single thing , no matter be it studying machines/equipments or medical .. We need to be mentally and physically prepared for every unexpected and unforseen situations which can take place at 39000 ft high. Because it’s we who are going to save both our people and aircraft And as being a young girl moving out for the first time away from family , it’s quite difficult to study / fly and manage personal life alone . Hence it’s for the very first time ever that I am staying away from my family , friends.
Managing everything was a bit difficult for me at that time , but as we say “hard work always pays off” .. So it did .
Janvi:- Great! Amid this lockdown, how what has been the status of the Airlines due to the pandemic ?
Shruti:- As we all are facing some or the other problems this pandemic has put the airlines too in dire straits. Because being a huge industry no doubt it’s not raking in as much profit as it used to do so. Then we need to be very cautious about the health and cleanliness of all our passengers which cannot be neglected even one percent . No matter in what situation we may have to work ,the best part is that our airlines is taking very good care of our health and all of their employees which really matters a lot and gives a huge motivation to work .
Janvi:- Superb! Shruti what is your Educational Qualifications ?
Shruti:- Well after completing my FY.B.Com, I joined aviation. There was a gap of two years from education because I wanted to focus more on my work , so currently pursuing my graduation in BCom.
Janvi:- Could you please share a message for the students out there who would all may want to pursue a career in airlines ?
Shruti:- The only thing I want to suggest or tell everyone who aspires for an Airlines career they just need to be confident enough. Thats all that matters Be very confident in what ever you do in your life . Work on your personality because thats all you need to be perfect for this field ,never loose hope because good things do take time .. So work on your personality and confidence and you all are all set to go . All the best !
