In an exclusive telephonic interview with Hello Womeniya News Team over a phone call she said that Lions Clubs International is serving the needy worldwide with 47000 Clubs. We have been doing such several social and charity drive through clubs located within her territory i.e. entire Chhattisgarh and part of Madhya Pradesh with 2700 members in 98 Clubs.
Adding further, she asserted that they have conducted various noble services and gave donations to needy persons.
When Covid-19 struck India in March, and spread ragingly, they took it as a challenging opportunity to serve the poor and needy amidst them. While people are mandatorily locked in houses and government ordered physical-distancing, we the LIONS immediately swung into action and took permission from local authorities to work with them for distribution of dry ration to poor families in the slum areas of her territory.
Interestingly, each and every club coordinated with government authority and started serving home cooked meals for corona warriors on duty like police personnel, medical staff and emergency service workers even as the entire public are under house arrest. Being world’s largest NGO, local administration always help them to unite and work for needy. When they realized that the medical staff and hospitals need extra PPE Kits and Masks and to cop up with this pandemic, they asked us to provide these medical supplies. Without a second thought most of the club started procuring masks, Sanitizer and PPE kits in large scale and donated to local administration to protect corona warriors.
She further claimed “I made an appeal to all Clubs of my district to donate generously to PM Care fund and CM relief Fund. Bewilderingly, it worked out and our district donated a staggering amount of Rs. 50 lacs in these relief funds besides providing local support.
If we go by the quantity in service and donations, it is like below poverty families benefitted by dry ration – 12000
Prepared Meals – 13 lac packet
Mask Distributed – 15000
Sanitizer – Worth Rs 5 Lacs
PPE Kit – 250
Remarkably, all the above are equivalent to a sum of Rs. 10 million.
Over and above this we received an emergency grant of US$ 10000 from Lions Clubs International Foundation which is a charity arm of Lions Clubs International, with Kits, medical supplies and sanitizer to COVID hospitals of our district.
