Social Entrepreneur Mariya President Inner Wheel Club Of Bombay Pier Shares Her Teams Charitable Activities With Hello Womeniya News

Mariya Nagree, former President, Inner Wheel Club of Bombay Pier, a sister Club of Rotary Club of Bombay Pier in Mumbai and its members concurrently launched several activities associated with COVID-19 along with Rotary Club of Bombay Pier, impacting 20,000 People.

Notably, Women of the Club took it upon themselves to pool in the surety that the people were fed and looked after. They contributed PPE (personal protective equipment), masks, sanitizers, preventive medicines, and above all, food to Migrant Workers, Daily Wagers, Policemen, Doctors, Medical staff, Adivasi women, street children, Orphans, Transgender society and other marginalized sections in Mumbai.

They have distributed sanitizers, masks, and gloves to Police HQ, Matunga police station, railway workers, and daily wage earners at King Circle Slums, and to 2750 Policemen and workers.

Further, they benefited 600 daily wagers by giving cooked food and grain kits. They accomplished their mission in locations such as Wadi Bunder, Nariman Point Slums, Byculla, and Worli Slums. They have sourced grains from different traders based on locality. Packing and logistics were taken care of by Robinhood Army. Each grain kit cost Rs.1500 to Rs.1600 sufficient for a family of 5 or 6 persons for a month.
Furthermore, they donated to doctors, nurses, medical staff, and community health workers in Sion Hospital, Wadia Hospital, and JJ Hospital. They gave 10,000 packets of sanitary napkins during a medical camp for women under the National Commissions for Women India initiatives.

Doctors too imparted the hygiene training and distributed sanitizers and masks to women.
The Club also contributed 75 food packages comprising grains to labourers, daily wage earners, marginal employees, and their families at Dharavi, JJ colony, Kalla Compound slums through Hind Welfare Association. This benefited 300 daily wagers.
Even 4288 Street Children got assisted by this Club which sponsored 67 Ration kits to St Catherine Girl’s Orphanage, YMCA Boys Orphanage, and Transgender Community living in slums from Andheri to Malad. Each kit aids a family of 4 for 16 days.
These are some of the good instances of the various activities performed by the Club.
