Brief Introduction of Mrs Seema Metangle

A commerce graduate, I have chosen to be a homemaker. I have interests in teaching, adventure and writing. Have published two stories in my mother language Marathi on Pratilipi, a multi-lingual digital platform. I definitely love to face challenges in my life and “Never Give Up” is the motto that drives me to offer my best. This I draw, perhaps from my Tapovan trek in my youth where we trekked to almost 17,000 feet altitude braving cold and snow.

I was elected as the President of the Innerwheel Club of Nagpur Orange City for 2020-21. We were in the midst of a global pandemic that had prompted a strict lockdown. I had earlier planned a lot of physical activities and meetings, but the situation presented before me a unique challenge. It was rather a bolt from the blue for me to execute all such programmes as part of the planning from home.

But in such a scenario, International Innerwheel’s theme, “Lead the Change & Hope” showed me the way. All through the year, we used an online platform to execute all my planned projects. I accepted Covid19 as another challenge of my life with a thought to convert this into an opportunity.

Following are the highlights of the projects that I have executed during my tenure:

I Online projects:

1] Covid vaccination is essential ?
2] Menstrual cup, a new tool to avoid environmental problem.
3] Life after 40.
4] How to lead a pain free life?
5] Awareness about breast cancer
6] Workshop for Red Dot paper bags.
7) Suicide:Causes & Remidies

II Physical projects:

1] Kinnar Project
2] Blood Donation Camp
3] Distribution of sanitary napkins & masks to young girls and ladies
4] Distribution of raincoats with Innerwheel logo to sweepers and small shopkeepers
5) Distribution of Mask to small vegetables venders
6)Provide electrical sanitizer machine & Sanitizer to adopted school.
7) provide grocery to vrudhashram.
8)Provide grocery to blind people
9) Made Inner wheel Katta.

One of the most neglected strata in our society is that of transgender. Lockdown had adversely affected their lives and many of them were rendered without livelihood and food. At such a crucial time, our team supported them by arranging ration kits that would last them for one and a half month. I have received the ‘Covid Warrior Award’ from the Maharashtra government at the hands of Governor Bhagat Singh Kushiyaki.

In all these projects, our DC Meenal ji Lathi Madam supported and encouraged us. My club and my team offered me unstinted backing and hence I am able to complete as many as 60 projects. Every single club member lent a helping hand in this journey. Even during the covid pandemic, there were lots of new members, indicating the success of our venture.
