In our Inner wheel Social entrepreneur series in this episode we are introducing you to a very dynamic and popular social entrepreneur of IWC who firmly believes in Social service and charity work yes we are talking about Lovely Dasgupta President of Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Junction Dist-329 stepped in with precautions to support Covid affected in this lockdown.

About  Inner Wheel :

International Inner Wheel is one of the largest, all-women, voluntary service organizations in the world, has several representatives at the United Nations, and is active in more than 100 countries. The organisation comprises around 108614 members and 3979 clubs, worldwide.
District 329 of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India, has 1570 members and 54 Clubs

Mumbai: The inner Wheel of Calcutta Junction is providing its promising work to empower society in this pandemic crisis

Brief Introduction of Lovely Dasgupta

She is Born and brought up in an illustrious family of academic and cultural brilliance, she is a second-generation practicing Advocate of Calcutta High Court and also an Editor of a Leading Law Journal.
She inherited her passion for social work from her parents who were associated with social organizations, such as Rotary International and the Red Cross. Her mother belonged to the visionary Chittagong Waddedar family of famous freedom fighter Pritilata Waddedar.
Her only daughter is a Consultant at IBM.

Due to lockdown and Covid Lovely executed projects mostly, in close collaboration with National and local NGOs, as people desperately needed help.

List of  service Projects done during Covid situation:

Donated Laptop, Books, and dresses to a minor transgender boy studying at Class X1. Sponsored education of a Nursing Student (Girl) and a Deaf and Mute orphan minor girl.
Through Cuddles Foundation Donated holistic food and nutritional supplements consisting of Ration baskets, Supplements, In meal, Hot Meal, Fruits to underprivileged children fighting cancer.

Allotted Salary to teachers as they lost their job due to Covid. Distributed dry food items in Red Light Area to the Sex workers and their children as they were almost starving due to Covid.

With The cooperation of Humanity Trust conducted Community Awareness Programmes for the general public in remote areas of Sunderbans. Free medical camps were conducted and patients were treated with the free supply of medicine, masks, hand sanitizers, soaps, and nutritional supplements were distributed to pregnant women and children.

Restored and cleaned up water bodies in the villages of Sunderbans for the livelihood of villagers and to make a cleaner and better environment.

To create a cleaner and better environment created Inner Wheel Forest by planting 110 trees in 5 kathas of land at Rajarhat.

Distributed Sanitary Napkins in bags with IW Logo and name of our club in different villages of Sunderbans among the underprivileged women and school students. Bestowed for the livelihood of recovered but abandoned mental health patients of Pavlov Mental Hospital, Kolkata through ” Anjali”. Post-training they are successfully running a Tea Room and Block Print Unit.

Participation in Joint Projects amid pandemic crisis :

With other Inner wheel clubs of District 329 jointly distributed a High Flow Nasal Oxygen machine to Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata for covid patients.

Together Helped fishermen of Sunderbans for their livelihood by repairing their fishing boats. Jointly installed a Solar Power Plant in the village. secured 7 Oxygen Concentrators for Covid patients.

Further, For the upliftment, health, and livelihood of village women, was part of project ‘Grameen Udyog ‘a mega initiative of District 329.

Brief introduction of District 329 :

The pioneer in the Eastern Indian subcontinent (erstwhile territory extended to West Bengal, North Eastern States of India, and Bangladesh). They belong to the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India and are an International Inner Wheel district made up of clubs in south Bengal and the Inner Wheel Club of Port Blair, Andaman in the Bay of Bengal. The total strength is 54 clubs and 1,570 members. A few of the clubs include Contai, Calcutta Junction, Calcutta Mahanagar, North Calcutta, Metro Maidan, Calcutta Mega City, Serampore, Southwest Calcutta, and many more
