Mumbai: Chandraprabha Khona, president of Rotary Club of Mumbai Downtown Sealand shared her club’s generous undertakings

This Club is celebrating this year as Golden Jubilee year. She says to mark Golden Jubilee’s year, Our club has taken many powerful, impactful projects which are sustainable for years to come benefitting a large number of communities.

They have taken up construction of two check dams at Ghanegar Village, Bamre pada (1) and (2), Vikramgad taluka, Palghar district benefitting thousands of villagers, and farmers. The cost of this project is Rs.13,00,000/-(Rupees Thirteen Lacs). The further project is the construction of Toilet blocks for boys and girls mostly tribals and economically backward class of Prof.C.R.Mhase agriculture polytechnic college at Ware at Karjat District, cost of this project is Rs 2,20000/- similarly constructing toilet blocks for girls and boys all tribals at Dongarpada Primary School at Divanmal pada at the cost of 3,20000.

Club has taken major projects under the Global grant, worth USD188712 for protection from Covid, and under this grant, have donated and installed the pieces of equipment in more than 20 hospitals all over Maharashtra, distributed sanitisers, masks, ration to needy poor persons, and provided four ambulances to different hospitals.

Besides, undertaken heart surgery for children under the project “ touching little hearts” and so far about 100 surgeries have been conducted. Alike, children at Bai jerbai Wadia Hospital suffering from cancer are given treatments. So far amount of Rs.2200000/- is disbursed to the hospital for this cause took the projects of sports and organised Football Tournaments for 170 underprivileged girls, organised online chess Tournaments, and conducted sports and various matches and in-door games competitions like for boys and girls at Remand Home Dongri, distributed Trophies, Medals, and prizes in all these events.

Furthermore, have executed the project for the disabled by donating Rs.30000/- to Lions home for aging blind Khandala. provided wheelchairs to two physically challenged girls and one wheelchair at Indu clinic Mumbai, organised workshops on Crime against Women and self-defense for girls and women at the Cuffe parade.
They celebrated many festivals with different groups bringing smiles to their faces in challenging times giving them fruits, sweets, snacks, chocolates, biscuits, T-shirts, sanitizers, masks, backpacks, toys, and the list is big. Has donated Sanitizers, 5000 masks, and 1000 face shields to police personnel for protection against Covid infection. given food grains, masks, and sanitizers to transgenders worth Rs.50,000. And 70,000 for constructing one low-cost housing shelter under prime Minister Awas Yojna to a Poor person who was living in the hut. Distributed Ration Kits to Street Children. Distributed 4500 meals to the Hungry people worth Rs.70,000

Likewise, partook in the Polio Plus Drive and provided lunch and bisleri water to the health workers of BMC at Janabai Rokade School and on all three days of Polio Plus days this year spending about Rs.35,000/- for this project.

These are some of the projects they have accomplished, there are several others, and will conduct more for the betterment of society.
